Prime Minister and Cabinet Members
Discuss Measures to Reduce
Administrative Burden in Traffic Police

Sofia, June 10 (BTA) - Short and long term measures to reduce the administrative burden on Traffic Police service users were mapped out during a working meeting at the Interior Ministry offices on Saturday, which was attended by Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev, Interior Minister Valentin Radev and Defence Minister Krassimir Karakachanov, as well as experts.

Donchev said after the discussion: "The Traffic Police is one of the departments where administrative services are cumbersome, slow, an sometimes even exasperating for citizens." He recalled that reducing the administrative burden in all spheres is one of the main goals of the government.

Traffic Police services handle 2,500 individuals and 900 vehicles every day. "The standards of service are not what they should be," the Deputy PM noted. Efforts are already being made to improve the situation. The aim is to electronify all services and minimize the need for clients to go to the physical offices, Donchev said.

Interior Minister Radev said he has been assured by Prime Minister Borissov that funding will be raised for the planned measures. LN/VE
