Chief of Defence Admiral Emil Eftimov will participate in the first NATO Military Committee meeting in 2025, which will be held on January 15-16 in Brussels, Belgium. 

The agenda of the meeting includes the discussion of topical issues related to the adaptation of the Alliance's deterrence and defence plans and exercise programmes. The focus will be on enhancing interoperability and the updated Capability Objectives of the NATO Defence Planning Process.

NATO Strategic Operations and Transformation Commanders will provide their strategic considerations on Alliance activities to address cross-regional challenges. Opportunities to develop cooperation with partner countries in the Global South and the Indo-Pacific region will be explored, with whom a discussion will be held on approaches to counter the growing instability in their respective regions. 

The meeting will conclude with a ceremony to mark the replacement of Admiral Rob Bauer as Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, due to the expiry of his term of office. The post will be filled by Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone from Italy.
