European Leaders Congratulate Newly Elected Bulgarian PM Rosen Zhelyazkov and His Cabinet

A number of European leaders sent their congratulations on the occasion of Bulgaria's newly formed regular cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov, elected by a coalition in Parliament between GERB-UDF, BSP-United Left and There Is Such a People, and supported by the votes of Democracy, Rights and Freedoms.

European Council President Antonio Costa said on X (formerly known as Twitter) the following: "My warmest congratulations, Rosen Zhelyazkov, on your appointment as Prime Minister of Bulgaria. Wishing you success and looking forward to working together on a strong pro-European agenda for the benefit of all Bulgarians".

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen wrote, also on X the following: "My congratulations to Rosen Zhelyazkov on your election as Prime Minister of Bulgaria. I look forward to working with you for a thriving Bulgaria in a strong and united Europe.

I also appreciate your support to our brave neighbour Ukraine. All my wishes of success".

President of the European People's Party Manfred Weber also congratulated Zhelyazkov on his election as Prime Minister, noting that this Government represents a time when Bulgaria will return to the path of stability, progress and unity. He also wished Zhelyazkov success in shaping a good future.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal also congratulated on X Rosen Zhelyazkov on his appointment as Prime Minister of Bulgaria. "Thank you for your support to Ukraine in the fight for freedom and on our path to the EU and NATO. I look forward to further strengthening our cooperation," the Ukrainian Prime Minister wrote.
