Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev took over the post from his predecessor, Ivan Kondov, at a ceremony here on Friday, the Ministry’s press service said. "Returning here is a rather special moment for me, not only career-wise but also personally," Georgiev noted. He credited outgoing Foreign Minister Ivan Kondov with the caretaker cabinet’s foreign policy achievements.
Georgiev expressed belief that he and his team and the Foreign Ministry staff "will further the efforts to protect and defend Bulgarian national interests".
Kondov thanked his team for the professionalism and support provided during his term of office. He noted that Georgiev has an extensive experience in foreign policy, having served as a deputy minister and a member of the National Assembly’s Committee on Foreign Policy and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the Foreign Ministry said.
Kondov wished his successor success during his term in office, expressing confidence that the Ministry's team will be just as dedicated in supporting Georgiev in his work.
