The first concert of the year under the Bulgarian Concert Evenings in New York initiative took place at the Consulate General of Bulgaria in New York, said this country's diplomatic mission on its Facebook page.
The musical event, entitled “An Evening of Song”, featured mezzo-soprano Mariana Karpatova, baritone Randall Scarlata, violin Georgi Valchev, cello Ari Evan, and piano Lora Chekoratova. They performed works by Franz Schubert, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Antonio Caldara and others.
Angel Angelov, Consul General of Bulgaria in New York, welcomed the guests and introduced them to the rich cultural programme of the Bulgarian community in the metropolis.
The next Bulgarian Concert Evenings in New York concert will be on February 12, the Bulgarian mission also informed in its announcement and published a link to the concert programme.
The Bulgarian Concert Evenings in New York initiative presents classical and contemporary chamber music performed by Bulgarian and international artists. Since its establishment in the fall of 2005, the concerts have been carried out with the help of volunteer musicians from Bulgaria and most of them are free of charge.
