The Movement 21 and Bulgarian Spring parties have submitted applications for leaving the BSP - United Left coalition, the two formations informed. The announcement was circulated by Movement 21's press centre.

In their motives the two parties point out that BSP - United Left joining a ruling coalition on GERB's mandate is contrary to the goals of the Left-wing alliance. "According to the current coalition agreement and the political platform, the main goal of the united left is to create a governing alternative. To oppose the vicious political model, giving birth to an assemblage after assemblage [a term used with a negative connotation to refer to the formation of governments by politically incompatible entities], while completely disregarding the interests of Bulgarian citizens. To implement a leftist, left-centrist and patriotic policy, which can give this country a perspective to be a European, democratic, competitive and social State, the two formations said.

Movement 21 and Bulgarian Spring declare that they will continue to work for the restoration of the strong political representation of the Left and Centre-left people in Bulgaria and for a Left-wing unity that is big in terms of voters' trust. "We will work for a united Left with reputable figures, with proven high public morals and categorically free of dependencies, which does not encapsulate itself around the local and national bodies of one of the partners. A Left wing that attracts, includes and enables the full participation of diverse groups and interests, which is truly influential, able to fight for the first places in elections and to govern the country in the interest of the citizens", said the leaders of the two formations - Tatiana Doncheva of Movement 21, and Velizar Enchev of Bulgarian Spring.

Earlier on Thursday, Parliament elected a regular government with Rosen Zhelyazkov from GERB-UDF as prime minister. The Government was supported by 125 votes from GERB-UDF, BSP - United Left, Democracy for Rights and Freedoms and There Is Such a People, while 114 MPs voted against. BSP - United Left has one deputy prime minister and four ministers in the new Cabinet.
