"I do not come with lists of people to investigate," Interior Minister Daniel Mitov said while assuming his post on Thursday. He was welcomed by his predecessor and the professional leadership of the Ministry.

He said the Interior Ministry is a complex department with many responsibilities.

"I come with humility, with a wish that the Interior Ministry is calm, that all employees are calm, including about money," Mitov said, adding that Interior Ministry employees do one of the most difficult tasks - to ensure peace and order, he said.

He said that the work done thus far will be reviewed so as to plan and ask the short-, medium- and long-term tasks.

Our commitment is to provide all the conditions for work. We will not harass people, we will work for the safety of Bulgarian citizens, the minister said. He added that among his priorities are digitalization and migration challenges.

Mitov said that outgoing minister Atanas Ilkov has done an excellent job.

In a democracy there is an opposition, we will count on working constructively with it or part of it, Mitov further said.
