Borislav Gutsanov accepted the post of Minister of Labour and Social Policy from outgoing caretaker minister Ivaylo Ivanov at a ceremony at the Ministry here on Thursday. Earlier in the day, Parliament elected a regular Government with Rosen Zhelyazkov as Prime Minister.

He said he is honoured to be part of the most important ministry in the country when the conditions are very complicated, adding that he would do his best to return the leading role of the ministry as a centre where talks between employers and trade unions could take place for a better life of every Bulgarian family.

"I will try to make inequalities smaller, we will lobby for more funds for our Ministry so that people can live better," Gutsanov added.

"You are taking over a ministry that is responsible for the most vulnerable groups and people's expectations of it are very high," said outgoing minister Ivaylo Ivanov. He wished Gutsanov success and thanked the team he had worked with.

After Parliament voted the Zhelyazkov cabinet, a handover and acceptance ceremony took place in the Granite Hall of the Council of Ministers.
