Bulgaria Reconfirms Support for
Establishment of European Public Prosecutor's
Office
Luxembourg/Sofia, June 8 (BTA) - Bulgaria reconfirmed its support for the establishment of a European public prosecutor's office in Luxembourg Thursday. Addressing a meeting of the Justice and Home Affairs Council, Justice Minister Tsetska Tsacheva said, as quoted by her Ministry: "The time has come for us to definitively declare out support for this exceedingly important project - the establishment of a European Public Prosecutor's Office - and to work to make it efficient. This will mostly depend on loyal cooperation among all member states against criminal incursions on our common European budget."
Tsacheva congratulated the Maltese and preceding presidencies on their hard work on the text of the regulation to establish a European public prosecutor's office and the association of new member-countries in closer cooperation, which is indicative of the general determination to defend the Union's financial interests.
The Justice Minister underscored Bulgaria's position that it is important to have a European public prosecutor's office which is integrated, indivisible, efficient and independent, and capable of successfully pressing charges against criminal actions against European funds and restoring funds to the European budget to the benefit of all European citizens./BR/
