Scheduled Annual Repair Works of
Power Unit Five of Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant
Completed

Vratsa, Northwestern Bulgaria, June 9 (BTA) - Scheduled annual
repair works of the 1,000 MW power unit five of the Kozloduy
nuclear power plant have been completed and the generator was
switched back to the national power grid on Friday after a check
and a letter of approval issued by the Agency for Nuclear
Regulation, sources from the N-plant said.

The generating unit, which was shut down for the repair works on
April 22, underwent requisite repairs and preventive
maintenance of its equipment and systems. The reactor was
refuelled with fresh nuclear fuel.

Parallel to that, planned measures under the project for
lengthening the service life of the unit and for increasing the
heat capacity of the generator to 104 per cent were implemented.
The stator of the turbo-generator of the unit was replaced with
a new one and the separation systems of two steam generators
were upgraded. The upgrade of the separation systems of the
other two steam generators was carried out in 2016.

The other 1,000 MW unit of the plant, power unit six, currently
operates at full capacity.
