Stara Zagora Voted Best City to Live In for 2016

Sofia, May 22 (BTA) - The south-central city of Stara Zagora won the Best City to Live In for 2016 title in the tenth anniversary edition of a poll conducted by the commercial Darik Radio. Participating in the poll were the 27 regional centres in Bulgaria which were assessed by various criteria.

The prizes were handed out in a special ceremony in the presence of Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova, cabinet ministers, mayors and many guests.

Sofia won the Digital City title. This is a new category in the poll. The capital also won the Best Business City award.

Following are the winners in the other categories of the poll:

Municipality making "good news": Pomorie, at the Black Sea
Town guardian of traditions: Nessebur, also at the Black Sea
City of Knowlede: Varna, also at the Black Seaside
Best Art City: Plovdiv, Southern Bulgaria
Greenest City in Bulgaria: Dobrich, Northeastern Bulgaria
Best European City in Bulgaria: Pleven, North Central Bulgaria
Best Small European Town in Bulgaria: Primorsko, at the Black Sea
Best Financially Stable City: Bansko, Southwestern Bulgaria
Best Investment City: Dimitrovgrad, Southern Bulgaria

The audience of Darik Radio and the visitors of the dariknews.bg website voted Bourgas, at the Black Sea, as the Best City to Live In.

The organizers of the poll recalled that the Best City to Live In title has been won by Sofia, four times, Bourgas, three times, Varna, two times, and Veliko Turnovo, North Central Bulgaria, once.
