Bulgarian Foreign Minister Meets Greek Counterpart

Rhodes Island, May 23 (BTA) - Bulgarian Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva conferred with Greek counterpart Nikos Kotzias here Tuesday, the Foreign Ministry said. The two met on the sidelines of the Second Rhodes Conference for Security and Stability taking place here May 22 and 23.

In what was their first meeting, Zaharieva assured Kotzias of her wish to continue the excellent cooperation between the two countries. The two top diplomats re-confirmed the strategic nature of relations between Bulgaria and Greece, and determination to see them deepen further in all fields.

They discussed specific initiatives at various levels, such as continuing the exchange between working groups of the Foreign Ministries on issues including the future of Europe, Brexit, migration, the situation in the Western Balkans and regional security.

Zaharieva and Kotzias confirmed their support for regional initiatives for cooperation in Southeast Europe and readiness to work together for stability and security in the region, including within the EU, the Council of Europe, NATO, OSCE and other international and regional organizations.
