Academy of Sciences' Analysis of Belene N-Plant Project Due Out by End-September - Energy Minister

Sofia, May 26 (BTA) - Energy Minister Temenouzhka Petkova said the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences would complete an analysis of the need to build a nuclear power plant at Belene and a financial model for it by the end of September.

Part of the equipment for the project is already at the site and the rest is expected in September. It is important to find a private investor, but failing this, another solution will be sought, including construction of a new unit of the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant, Petkova said at Parliament's Question Time on Friday.

She gave all parliamentary groups until June 12 to name experts who will participate in the drafting of an energy strategy for the period until 2030.

The Belene plant project was abandoned by decisions of the government and Parliament in February 2013.
