Turkish National Detained for  Drug Trafficking

Bourgas, October 11 (BTA) - The Bourgas Regional Prosecution Office (BRPO) detained Turkish national Metin Hersek for 72 hours after finding about 30 kg of heroin and 37,500 euro with him. The foreigner tried to cross from Turkey into Bulgaria via the Malko Turnovo checkpoint, the BRPO press service said.

The drug - of high quality - was distributed in 56 packs. The offence carries 15 to 20 years' imprisonment and a fine of 200,000 to 300,000 leva.

The second offence of the Turkish national is related to his failure to declare the fact that he was carrying 37,500 euro as required by the law.
