BSP Accuses Incumbent of Doing Nothing, Urges Valeri Simeonov's Resignation

Sofia, May 19 (BTA) - For two months Parliament has not been working efficiently and the Borissov government has no legislation agenda, said BSP floor leader Kornelia Ninova in a declaration read from the rostrum in Parliament on Friday. She said that the MPs had even broken the record for the shortest Parliamentary sitting.

At the same time the governing coalition were frantically distributing power and money, said Ninova.

She said that a total of six bills have been submitted at the 44th National Assembly: four by the Bulgarian Socialist Party, one by Volya, one by GERB and one by the United Patriots and GERB which was withdrawn immediately.

Also, the BSP leader made an inventory of what she called controversial appointments in all sectors and said that this was the team that the Prime Minister paraded before the elections..

"We are urging for the resignation of Deputy Prime Minister Valeri Simeonov," said Ninova.

On Thursday, Volya and BSP urged United Patriots Co-Chairman and Deputy Prime Minister Valeri Simeonov to withdraw from the executive branch of government after his recent statements in connection with an ongoing Nazi salute scandal.

Responding to Ninova's statement, Anton Todorov of GERB said that Kornelia Ninova should have long been locked up in prison.

MP Volen Siderov of the United Patriots said the socialists were carrying out the attack after they saw that the government had started proper work."

"It is time to stop with the political demagogy and the unprincipled and groundless accusation of fascism," said MP Alexander Sidi of United Patriots.
