Fewer Bulgarian Doctors Opt to Look for Work Abroad

Sofia, January 13 (BTA) - The Health Ministry reports that the number of Bulgarian doctors leaving the country to work abroad has decreased.

The Ministry said in a press release on Wednesday that after the entry into force of new regulations for medical specializations in late January 2015, 1,204 specialists in training were enrolled. The new regulations introduced more attractive conditions for specializations and career development opportunities for doctors.

In the entire 2015 the Health Ministry issued 364 vocational qualification certificates to Bulgarian doctors going to work in other EU member states, against 411 certificates issued in 2014. The Health Ministry said that the fewer certificates issued in 2015 show that the new regulations for specializations are a successful step to keep young doctors from leaving the country.
