Bulgaria Supports Preparation of Common Strategy for EU Industrial Policy - Minister

Berlin/Sofia, June 30 (BTA) - Attending the fifth Friends of Industry Conference in Berlin, Bulgarian Economy Minister Emil Karanikolov said that Bulgaria supports the preparation of a common strategy for a EU industrial policy which unites all strategic initiatives in the field, said the Economy Ministry. This will guarantee a synergy between EU instruments in industry aimed at sustained economic growth, employment and innovation in the EU enterprises, Karanikolov said.

He argued that the new strategy should focus on SMEs, start-ups and enterprises in growth.

Karanikolov paid special attention to the training of employees in priority industrial sectors and said that setting out objectives for the industrial development of Europe by 2030 is well-founded and it is extremely necessary to continue the efforts to increase competitiveness of European industry.

On the sidelines of the forum, Karanikolov met with the State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, Matthias Mahnig, and briefed him on the measures undertaken by the Bulgarian government to improve the business environment in this country.

Karanikolov also informed Mahnig about the measures undertaken by Bulgaria to reduce the administrative burden.

The Economy Minister also presented the idea for preparing an interactive regional qualifications map.

Mahnig said that Bulgaria's government is on the right track and expressing satisfaction with the increase of trade between the two countries, the Economy Ministry said.
