site.btaExperts Report 17 Alerts about Bulgarian Migrants' Exploitation Abroad
Sofia, July 4 (BTA) - The National Commission for Combatting Trafficking in Human Beings has received 17 alerts this year about Bulgarians being trafficked to foreign countries in order to be exploited. The alerts concern Bulgarians working in the Czech Republic, Britain, Austria and the Netherlands, the commission said.
The commission reminded those who want to work or study abroad to be cautious and get informed about the risks involved. Bulgarians looking for jobs abroad should beware of adverts pasted in the streets featuring only mobile phone numbers and attractive high pay. The social media and the Internet in general are increasingly being used as a means to lure and control such victims.
Workers abroad should not give their personal documents to anyone, the experts say.
