Ombudsman Signs Memorandum with UNICEF

Sofia, January 22 (BTA) - Bulgaria's National Ombudsman Maya Manolova and UNICEF signed a memorandum of understanding and cooperation, the Ombudsman's Office reported on Friday. On UNICEF's side, the memorandum was signed by the agency's Representative in Bulgaria, Maria Jesus Conde.

The bilateral partnership is aimed at protecting children's rights, with a focus on: guaranteeing the access of children and young people to justice; developing and strengthening the capacity of the institution of the Ombudsman to carry out independent monitoring of the children's rights situation in Bulgaria; and raising the public's awareness of, and sensitivity to, children's rights.
