Bulgaria and Ukraine Consider Joint Participation in Ground Force Exercises

Sofia, June 14 (BTA) - Bulgaria's Chief of Defence, Lieutenant General Andrei Botsev, and Ukraine's Ground Forces Commander, Lieutenat General Serhiy Popko, met here on June 13 to discuss joint participation of the two countries' military in ground force exercises.

Popko is leading a Ukrainian military delegation on a working visit to Bulgaria between June 13 and 16. Tuesday's meeting was also attended by Bulgarian Defence Staff experts and Ukrainian Ground Forces Command officials.

Lt Gen Botsev underscored the importance of expanding the two countries' cooperation in training and building operative capabilities by taking part in joint military exercises and training events.

Lt Gen Popko thanked Bulgaria for the continuing rehabilitation and treatment of Ukrainian servicepersons in a Military Medical Academy hospital in Hissarya.

The sides exchanged expertise in manning the Armed Forces.

On the first day of their visit, the Ukrainian guests also held meetings at the headquarters of the Bulgarian Ground Forces Command. The Ground Forces Commander, Major General Mihail Popov, discussed with Popko joint participation in international exercises and training activities.
