site.btaWorld Boxing President Boris van der Vorst to Visit Bulgaria

The President of the World Boxing organization, Boris van der Vorst, will visit Bulgaria on March 11. The official visit is organized at the initiative of Bulgarian Boxing Federation (BBF) President Krasimir Ininski, and Youth and Sports Minister Ivan Peshev, BBF said in a press release on Monday.

Van der Vorst, Peshev and Ininski will discuss BBF’s accession to World Boxing. In late February 2025, World Boxing, which already includes nearly 80 national boxing federations, was accepted as a provisional member of the International Olympic Committee, meaning that the organization will oversee the boxing tournament at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

During his visit to Bulgaria, Boris van der Vorst will also confer with Bulgarian Olympic Committee President Stefka Kostadinova.

On the final day of the Strandja Cup boxing tournament earlier in March, Ininski announced that the Bulgarian federation has already initiated the procedure for applying for membership in World Boxing and is expecting approval soon.
