site.btaHealth Ministry: National Children’s Hospital Functional Blueprint Under Discussion

A detailed discussion on the vision for the National Children's Hospital and its functional report, outlining what the medical facility will look like, is now underway, the Ministry of Health said here on Monday.
The first version of the preliminary Functional Programme was examined in an online meeting by Deputy Health Minister Dobromira Kareva, Children's Hospital Healthcare Investment Company Executive Director Vlatko Gligorov, the European Investment Bank, the Belgian-Spanish consortium IDOM, and the Public Council, the Health Ministry added.
The project is being developed in line with the results of the Capacity Plan and provides a detailed interface between the hospital’s physical spaces and the activities and services they will accommodate.
The total area is planned at 90,000 sq. m., with 79,000 sq. m. intended for hospital wards, communication links, and technical zones. The remainder will be used for parking and open spaces, including outdoor areas designed for children’s play.
Parallel to work on the Functional Programme, discussions will also address the proposed plan for equipping and furnishing the medical facility.
A series of meetings will take place in March to finalize the documents, with completion expected by the end of March, the Ministry of Health said. The goal is for the future National Children’s Hospital to be the most advanced medical facility, incorporating the latest trends in European healthcare systems.
