The conditions for winter sports in the mountains are good on Monday, the Mountain Rescue Service of the Bulgarian Red Cross (MRS) reported.

Temperatures are positive, with light to moderate winds in the high parts of the mountains. The snow cover is decreasing.

The slopes in the ski resorts have been groomed, most facilities are working.

Regarding hiking, the MRS warned that temperatures are dropping in the higher parts and there are quite a few icy areas. Caution and the necessary equipment must be used, the MRS added.

On Sunday, the MRS responded to a signal that came in shortly after 5 pm, about lost parents with two children in the Karandila region. The Sliven unit organized a rescue operation. The family was escorted out of the dangerous area around midnight.
