The German trade union Verdi has announced a new wave of strikes this week, the Situation Centre of the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry said on Monday. The industrial action, scheduled to last six days, will affect a wide range of public services, including municipal offices, hospitals, and public transport.
Many kindergartens will remain closed. Employees from electricity distribution companies, waste collection services, public institutions, employment offices and the armed forces will also take part in the strike.
Bulgaria’s Foreign Ministry advised Bulgarian nationals residing temporarily or permanently in Germany to stay up-to-date on the situation in their respective states.
On Sunday, Vasil Levski Sofia Airport announced the cancellation of 12 flights scheduled for Monday due to the strike by airport workers in Germany.
