A meeting of Bulgarian President Rumen Radev with his visiting Montenegrin counterpart Jakov Milatovic has started in Sofia Monday. The two presidents are expected to focus on deepening bilateral relations in areas such as the economy, connectivity, education and science, culture, security, and regional cooperation in Southeast Europe.
Milatovic is visiting Bulgaria on Monday and Tuesday at Radev's invitation. He and wife Milena Milatovic were welcomed by President Radev and wife Desislava Radeva with an official ceremony at St. Alexander Nevsky Square. The Montenegrin President paid tribute at the Monument to the Unknown Soldier.
Following a one-on-one meeting between the two presidents, they will hold plenary talks with their official delegations. In the presence of both presidents, a Memorandum of Understanding will be signed between the Institute of Marine Biology of Montenegro and the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute, followed by a joint press conference.
On Tuesday, Radev and Milatovic will visit the Novo Selo training area, where they will be greeted by an honour guard from the multinational battlegroup. The two presidents will view static displays of weapons and equipment and meet with Bulgarian and Montenegrin contingents, according to the statement.
Radev conferred with Milatovic last June during a visit to Montenegro. During that visit, the Bulgarian head of State was also scheduled to confer with Montenegro's Prime Minister Milojko Spajic, who was late for the meeting and Radev left before it took place.
