World-renowned information security expert Prof. David Basin is joining the team of the Institute for Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Technology (INSAIT) with Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski, Ministry of Education and Science announced on Thursday.

David Basin is a Prof. at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich, former Dean of the Faculty of Informatics at the prestigious university, and a member of the Swiss Academy of Engineering. He worked at Cornell University in the US and the Max Planck Institute in Germany. Prof. Basin has made significant contributions to industry as an advisor to leading high-tech companies and as co-founder of Anapaya Systems, an ETH Zurich startup developing the SCION network architecture. He is also the founder and first director of the Zurich Information Security Center (ZISC).

At INSAIT, Prof. Basin will lead new strategic department covering the most important aspects of modern information security. He will work as an Assoc. Prof. at the Bulgarian institute, spending a significant part of his time in Sofia.

He is yet another internationally recognized scientist who chooses INSAIT over dozens of other proposals from leading research centers in the world, the Ministry of Education and Science noted.
