The General Assembly of the GERB-UDF parliamentary group on Friday elected Hristo Gadzhev as secretary of the group, Yuliana Mateeva who chaired the plenary session said. She read a letter from Boyko Borissov, Floor Leader of GERB-UDF, to the National Assembly Chair Nataliya Kiselova, in which he informs her of the decision of the parliamentary group.
Until recently Aleksandar Nenkov was the secretary of the GERB-UDF parliamentary group but he lost his seat in Parliament after the redistribution of mandates that ensued after the Constitutional Court decision earlier in March.
On March 13, 2025, the Constitutional Court outlawed the election of 16 MPs and determined that the Movement for Rights and Freedoms - New Beginning, GERB-UDF, Vazrazhdane and BSP-United Left have lost between 1,110 and 42 votes each, while MECh, TISP, CC-DB and the ARF have gained between 28 and 1 votes each.
By a decision adopted on the same day, Bulgaria's Central Election Commission (CEC) set the 4% threshold for entry into the 51st National Assembly at 97,390 valid votes, down from 97,458 before the review of the results, and annulled the mandates of 16 MPs.
