Bulgaria's Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev took part in the Meeting of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs in Brussels on April 3-4, 2025, the Ministry's press centre reported on Friday. The meeting began with a working lunch, where Georgiev discussed key priorities with NATO allies, including strengthening collective defense and increasing defense investments.
A strategic framework was also prepared for the upcoming NATO Summit in The Hague in June 2025, which will outline new directions for the future development of the Alliance.
During the second working session, Georgiev engaged in discussions with partners from the Indo-Pacific region, including Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, and Japan. The conversation focused on enhancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest, such as support for Ukraine, cybersecurity, new technologies, and countering hybrid threats.
The meeting also included a session of the NATO-Ukraine Council, attended by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas, and Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba. During the meeting, the importance of continued support for Ukraine and efforts to achieve a lasting and just peace with security guarantees for the country were discussed.
On the second day of the meeting, Georgiev took part in a sitting with Kallas, where they discussed strategic cooperation between NATO and the EU in the defense industry and strengthening the European pillar of the Alliance's collective defense architecture.
