Finance Minister Temenuzhka Petkova held a meeting with German Ambassador to Bulgaria Irene Maria Plank, the Finance Ministry said in a press release on Friday. The sides discussed the development of the bilateral trade and economic relations as well as the possible direct and indirect effects of the new US trade conditions on the economies of Bulgaria, Germany, and the EU.
Petkova acquainted Plank with the parameters of the 2025 State Budget Act adopted by the National Assembly, which sets a deficit of 3%. The Finance Minister noted that entry in the eurozone is a strategic priority, and Bulgaria meets sustainably the four entry criteria, which gives grounds for a positive conclusion to be expected from Bulgaria's request for convergence reports by the European Commission and the European Central Bank.
The Ambassador assured Petkova that Germany supports the Bulgarian Government's efforts to get Bulgaria into the eurozone on January 1, 2026.
