The Vinophrenia Festival will take place on May 2 and 3 at the Summer Theatre Courtyard and Military Club in Ruse, the organizers said on Thursday.

The festival will bring together wines from 23 Bulgarian wineries and local cuisine, combining them with a cultural atmosphere and live music. “This is our modern interpretation of a city festival that will take place in this wonderful place. It is for people who want to immerse themselves in a festival atmosphere with music, food and wine tasting. Vinophrenia sounds like a diagnosis, but in fact it is another madness of the Habitats Foundation, which we will fulfill with festive content,” said Ani and Deyan Gerasimov, two of the organizers of the festival. They noted that one-day and two-day tickets for the event are already on sale.

“There will be 23 wineries from all over the country, which will present over 150 wines. The majority of them are made using natural technologies to show off the taste of the grapes. We want to show what great wealth and diversity we have. There will be wineries with endemic varieties that thrive only in the given habitats. You will see varieties that are grown in different places in the country, how different they are interpreted in different wineries,” they added. They also pointed out that the festival will feature producers who are trying to revive the Bulgarian Gergana grape variety, as well as collegues from the Silistra village of Kaynardzha, whose vineyards were planted after World War II by the Japanese.

The festival will also include food on site, with three professional chefs and producers of farm and artisanal appetizers to present their meals and products. An evening concert programme with free admission is also planned, with the Ruse Jazz Syndicate to perform on the stage of the Summer Theatre on May 2, while the rockers from Popokate5l will perform on May 3. An exhibition by artist Emma Yordanova will be opened in the Military Club hall as part of the festival.

The Vinophrenia Festival is organized by the Habitati Foundation, together with the Happy Clever Kids Event Centre and Arena Media.
