The 14th edition of the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup opened in Sofia on Friday. 87 individual gymnasts and 12 ensembles from 50 nations will be participating. The chief judge of the competition will be Bulgarian Gymnastics Federation Vice President Neviana Vladinova.
The opening ceremony was also attended by Sofia Deputy Mayor Ivan Vassilev, Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Stoyan Andonov, Bulgarian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation President Iliana Raeva and Noha Abou Shabana, Rhythmic Gymnastics Technical Committee President of the International Gymnastics Federation.
"Organizing one of the most prestigious international events is a privilege and a responsibility for our country. (…) It is extremely gratifying that within the framework of the World Cup we will see participants from over 50 countries," Andonov said.
During the opening ceremony, the Bulgarian girls' ensemble, which is preparing for the European Championship in Estonia and the World Girls' Championship in Sofia in June, demonstratively performed its composition with five pairs of clubs.
