The high school in Bolhrad, Ukraine, named after Bulgarian freedom fighter Georgi Rakovski, and Development UA charity foundation signed a memorandum for cooperation, aimed at supporting charitable activities and improving the socio-economic situation of vulnerable social groups, the school's director, Snezhana Skorich, told the Bulgarian News Agency on Friday.
The event took place in the framework of an official visit of representatives of the diplomatic missions of Norway and Bulgaria to Ukraine on the occasion of the donation of a mobile football field for the educational center.
The main areas of cooperation include the provision of charitable assistance to the socially disadvantaged, unemployed, disabled and temporarily displaced, as well as the development of cultural, educational and environmental initiatives. The parties committed to support programmes that contribute to social rehabilitation of citizens, the improvement of access to cultural values and the development of the national-cultural environment.
Founded in 1821 by Bulgarian settlers, Bolhrad is considered the unofficial capital of the Bessarabian Bulgarians and the cultural centre of Bulgarian communities in Bessarabia.
