Trips to Bulgaria from Abroad
Drop by 11.9% in July Y/Y


Sofia, August 29 (BTA) - Trips by foreigners for holiday and
recreation purposes to Bulgaria decreased by 11.9 per cent this
July, compared to July of last year, said the National
Statistical Institute. The number of visitor arrivals to this
country from abroad stood at 1,792,500 in July, which is 4.9 per
cent above the July 2013 level. An increase was registered in
the number of business trips - by 54.0 per cent and with other
purposes - by 27.5 per cent.

Trips with other purposes constitute the largest share of all
trips made by Bulgarians abroad in July of 2014 at 47.3 per
cent. Such trips are usually visiting as a guest, for education
purposes or to visit cultural or sporting events. The second
largest share is of trips with holiday and recreation purposes -
32.4 per cent , and business trips - 20.3 per cent. An
increase of 24.2 per cent was registered in the number of
business trips this July year-on-year. There was a decrease in
the number of holiday and recreation trips by 6.2 per cent,
while trips with other purposes remain unchanged compared to
last July.

The share of visits of ЕU citizens was 61.6 per cent of the
total number of foreigners' visits to Bulgaria in July 2014.
This is 3.6 per cent increase compared to last July.
Visits by foreigners from other European countries have
increased by 4.0 per cent, with the highest increase observed in
the visits paid by Turkish citizens - 17.3 per cent.

The predominant share of the visits in July was with holiday and
recreation purpose - 52.2 per cent, followed by those with
others purposes (including as guest and passing transit) - 37.0
per cent and business trips - 10.8 per cent. The visits with
holiday and recreation purposes formed 90.0 per cent of all
arrivals from the Russian Federation, 81.3 per cent from
Macedonia and 80.2 per cent from Ukraine. A total of 81.7 per
cent of all arrivals from Turkey were for other purposes. LN/MY
