The adoption of the euro now and requesting an ad hoc convergence report is not on the agenda of MECh, said leader Radostin Vassilev in Parliament on Wednesday. He said that he believes Bulgaria will go through a much more dramatic scenario than Croatia, where adopting the euro would immediately lead to inflationary pressure on the end consumer. Vassilev clarified that his party is not completely against the euro, but at this moment, Bulgaria is not ready for it.
As opposition and the smallest parliamentary group, MECh will largely oppose the proposed budget, which Vassilev described as serving corporations and big capital, but not the small businesses.
Vassilev said that all the proposals made by the MECh group in favor of the people are either not allowed for consideration or are rejected such as their idea for the nationalization of Lukoil. He said that on Thursday, MECh will submit a draft resolution for the nationalization of the three electricity distribution companies.
