site.btaCC-DB’s Ivaylo Mirchev: Bulgaria Abandons Reforms and Will Lose Nearly BGN 1.3 Billion under Recovery and Resilience Plan

Bulgaria is clearly abandoning reforms and will lose nearly BGN 1.3 billion BGN under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, Ivaylo Mirchev, MP of Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria, told a news briefing in Parliament on Wednesday.
According to the MP, the funds will be lost because it is obvious that GERB does not want to modernize the country. "For two years, we have been constantly repeating that the reforms in the Plan should be adopted, as well as the corresponding legislation, but we were not heard," said Mirchev.
According to him, the Council of Ministers did not include any laws in the Plan. "Once again, we will be told there is no money, and as a result, there will be no reforms. These reforms were requested by the European Union, and we agreed that we must implement them in order to receive the funds. Now we are losing billions because of this, while we explain that there is no money in the budget and we want to give money away to restaurateurs," commented Mirchev, urging that all laws under the Plan be urgently passed.
“We will support reasonable right-wing proposals at the second reading of the budget. For us, it is important that the package of right-wing policies we proposed is recognized by the other parties in the National Assembly and passes,” the MP added.
