At an extraordinary meeting on March 6, the European Council will make decisions about the EU's support for Ukraine and the strengthening of European defence, Council President Antonio Costa said after a videoconference of EU leaders on Wednesday.

Costa said the leaders are working in close coordination, and earlier in the day they were briefed by French President Emmanuel Macron on the outcome of his visit to Washington and his meeting with US President Donald Trump.
