The February issue of LIK magazine was presented at BTA’s National Press Club in Ankara on Tuesday. The issue is titled "BNR 90 Years Later."
Over 20 guests attended the presentation, including journalists, students, and Bulgarian citizens.
Hatice Aglac, a retired employee of TRT, shared with BTA her experience working in the Bulgarian section of the radio and spoke about the history of the Bulgarian section.
She mentioned that the Voice of Turkey Radio (under TRT) broadcasts on short waves in 41 languages, including Bulgarian. In recent years, broadcasts have also been available on the internet through the various sections' websites.
According to Aglac, the first broadcast in Bulgarian was on November 10, 1938—the day of the death of the founder of the Republic of Turkiye, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. At that time, broadcasts were also made in English, French, Turkish, Italian, and Arabic. Aglac further stated that the first Bulgarian broadcasts were 15 minutes long, featuring news and music.
