All MPs but members of Vazrazhdane and Morality, Unity, Honour (MECh) left the plenary sitting on Wednesday during an anti-euro declaration read by Vazrazhdane Floor Leader Kostadin Kostadinov. The declaration reiterated that Vazrazhdane had collected more than 600,000 signatures in support of holding a referendum on whether Bulgaria should adopt the euro as a currency. Kostadinov also listed reasons why his party held a rally here on Saturday that resulted in the European Commission's building getting defaced and in ten injured police officers.
in his speech, Kostadinov labelled the MPs who left the hall a Euro-Atlantic mob and urged them to stay out. He stated: "We fulfilled all the legal requirements. This referendum should have been held, but the Euro-Atlantic mob of GERB, of Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria, of the MRF [Movement for Rights and Freedoms] trampled this idea. They trampled it and made a mockery of the fundamental right of citizens to be polled when important government decisions are to be taken."
Kostadinov concluded: "You got what you deserved on Saturday, and I want to warn you that this protest was just the beginning."
