Bulgaria's Parliament on Wednesday voted, 168-27 with 19 abstentions, to form an Ad Hoc Committee to Establish the Existing Issues with the Distribution of Nitrous Oxide, Narcotic Drugs, Precursors and their Analogues and with the Prevention and Recovery Care for the Use of Nitrous Oxide, Narcotic Drugs, Precursors and their Analogues.

On a motion by the Chairperson of the National Assembly Health Committee Kostadin Angelov MP of GERB-UDF, the Ad Hoc Committee will consists of 16 lawmakers: two from each parliamentary group.

The draft resolution on the formation of the Ad Hoc Committee was tabled by MPs of five parliamentary groups: Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria, GERB-UDF, BSP-United Left, There Is Such a People, and Morality, Unity, Honour. "Over the last three years, the use of narcotic drugs has soared by 30%," the sponsors of the draft argued.
