Labour and Social Policy Minister Borislav Gutsanov unveiled a charity market titled Martenitsi with a Cause to support children, the elderly, and people with disabilities, the Labour and Social Policy Ministry said in a press release on Wednesday. The exhibition featured children and adults benefiting from 17 social services, who showcased traditional lucky red-and-white martenitsa charms (associated with the coming of spring) and souvenirs made by themselves during art therapy sessions.
Gutsanov stressed that, as of end-2024, over 65,000 people receive support in 1,879 social services across the country. The development of social and integrated health-social services is a priority for the Ministry, as they are the most effective means of support. In these services, children and the elderly can receive comprehensive support in various areas – psychological, educational, health, among others, the press release further says.
The main goal of the charity market is to showcase the creativity of supported children and adults in social services, to present the opportunities they provide for the socialization and integration of vulnerable groups, for the development of social skills, and for acquiring work habits, the statement concludes.
