In 2024, the annual average gross salary of employees under labor and service contracts in Bulgaria was 27,881 BGN, according to preliminary data of the National Statistical Institute (NSI) published on Wednesday.

Compared with 2023, the increase was 13.9%, with public sector seeing a 14.8% rise in the average gross salary, and the private sector experiencing a 13.5% increase.

According to information on the National Statistical Institute's (NSI) website, the average gross annual salary in 2023 was 24,485 BGN. This represents a 15.3% increase compared with 2022, according to the final data from the NSI.

Preliminary data from the NSI show that the number of employees under labor and service contracts in 2024 was 2,231,677. In 2023, the number was 2.3 million, according to final data.
