A total of 38 people were detained, after being identified by the Sofia Metropolitan Directorate of Interior, for vandalism during the November 16 protest in the capital, the Interior Ministry said.

Three of the detainees are in custody for arson and damage to official vehicles, and two pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in the cases - for a municipal police bus set on fire and for a police car located on Vasil Levski Blvd near an embassy building. The third person in custody was detained for drug possession.

A procedure was opened under the Public Order Protection during Sports Events Act regarding the other 34 people, seven of whom are minors. Their files have been compiled and reported to court on Saturday, with three acquitted and four rescheduled. The files of three minors will be sent to the local commissions for combating antisocial behaviour by minors and adolescents. The remaining 24 were fined BGN 1,000 and banned from attending sports events in the country and abroad for a period of one year.

Fans and police officers were injured during the protest against the leadership of the Bulgarian Football Union on Thursday evening. Restoring the damage after the protest cost BGN 42,000, Sofia Mayor Vassil Terziev said on Friday. "We will file a lawsuit against the organizer of the protest so that we can recover the damages," he added.
