site.btaRed Cross Signs Cooperation Memorandum with Agriculture Ministry and Forests Agency

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food (MAF), the Executive Forests Agency (EFA) and the Bulgarian Red Cross (BRC) signed a memorandum of cooperation and joint humanitarian initiatives. The aim is for the three institutions to increase the effectiveness of their interaction in organizing trainings for response and assistance in disasters, accidents and crises, the MAF announced on Thursday.

The document states that the parties have already fruitful cooperation, which should be further developed and expanded.

Joint activities will be carried out in preparing for and providing assistance to those in need in mountain areas, as well as in controlling and eliminating the consequences of natural disasters through joint training and practical exercises. Coordinated actions are also envisaged in the event of forest fires. The memorandum also provides for compiling and distributing common printed materials to raise public awareness of relevant issues.

The BRC Mountain Rescue Service will organize training through specialized courses. On the part of the MAF, the implementation of the agreements will be carried out by the employees of the state forestry enterprises and their territorial divisions, as well as by the structures of the Executive Forests Agency.
