Bulgarian Naval Forces Commander Rear Admiral Kiril Mihaylov told reporters here on Thursday that while the shipyard and the contractor face different challenges in the construction of the two new multi-purpose modular patrol ships for the Naval Forces, he believes that the process is going smoothly. He reiterated that the two ships are already in water with the second, Smeli, having been released ahead of schedule on December 12, 2024.
"The first one, the Hrabri frigate, is being completed, as of yesterday [April 2] the main gun has already been installed on the second frigate, Smeli, and work on the ships continues as planned," Mihaylov reported.
Earlier Thursday, Parliament adopted on second reading Letter of Offer and Acceptance BU-P-LBI for the acquisition of communications security equipment drafted in connection with the implementation of the Ministry of Defence's priority Acquisition of Multi-Purpose Modular Patrol Ships for the Navy project.
