Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB), GERB-UDF, and the Bulgarian Socialist Party demanded ministers' and officials' resignations on Friday morning following a Thursday protest in Sofia against Bulgarian Football Union (BFU) leadership.

GERB leader Boyko Borissov told journalists that Sports Minister Dimitar Iliev should resign immediately for fuelling tension for several days. He also demanded the immediate resignation of BFU President Borislav Mihaylov. Borissov also noted that newly elected Sofia Mayor Vassil Terziev had allowed "football hooligans to gather".

CC-DB co-leader Kiril Petkov told a briefing that his party demands the resignations of Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov and of the BFU President Mihaylov. CC-DB MP Hristo Ivanov commented on Borissov's criticism of Terziev by saying that he cannot be held responsible after being mayor for three days when mayors before him were not held responsible for public order in the organization of protests in the capital. Ivanov stressed that the Interior Ministry holds the main responsibility.

BSP leader Korneliya Ninova told journalists in Parliament that what happened in Sofia on Thursday "is a war and is unacceptable". She said that the Interior Ministry failed to do its job and her party also demanded the resignation of the interior minister. Ninova said she did not see a reason to demand the resignation of the sports minister.
