site.btaProsecution Service Indicts MP over Charges of Molesting Underage Person

Sofia City Prosecutor's Office (SCPO) indicted an MP with the initials D.A. for having molested a 14-year-old, the prosecution service reported on Thursday. The charge is that on May 7, 2023, through the use of force, the MP committed acts with the aim of arousing sexual desire without copulation with respect to a 14-year-old.

The Sofia City Court is yet to schedule a hearing in the case.

In June 2023, then prosecutor general Ivan Geshev submitted to the registry of the 49th National Assembly a request for lifting D.A.'s immunity on the proposal of the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office. The prosecution service reported that a pre-trial proceeding had been opened on May 2023, and the evidence collected was sufficient to bring the MP as a defendant. A check in the court's register suggested that the MP in question is Dimitar Avramov.
