Traffic on Trakia motorway near Stara Zagora, southern Bulgaria, is blocked by protests, the press centre of the Interior Ministry said Friday.

A route detour is established via road II-66 connecting Stara Zagora, Nova Zagora, Sliven, Trakia Motorway in both directions. Traffic through the Pass of the Republic between Gurkovo and Veliko Tarnovo also remains blocked.

For a week now, road intersections in the region of Stara Zagora have been closed due to protests by miners and energy workers, which began on Friday, September 29, and continue to this day. Their primary demand now is the withdrawal of the Territorial Just Transition Plans and new negotiations on the points of an agreement signed between their representatives and Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov.
