The highest-ranked Bulgarian in women's tennis, Viktoriya Tomova, qualified for the semi-finals of the ITF W100 hard court tournament in Les Franqueses del Valles, Northeast Spain on Friday.

The fifth seed won 6-2 6-2 over 19-year-old French player Nahia Berecoechea and will meet the second seed, world No.79 Magdalena Frech in the next round. The Polish player leads 2-1 in the head-to-head matches with the Bulgarian.

The result gave Tomova 50 points for the WTA rankings. She is currently placed at No.99.
