Parliament Thursday approved at first reading amendments to the Renewable Energy Act, tabled by Delyan Dobrev and Krasen Krastev MPs of GERB-UDF and by Pavela Mitova MP of There Is Such a People (TISP). The proposed amendments aim to simplify and reduce deadlines and administrative procedures, such as issuing permits for investment projects related to the construction of renewable energy facilities. These changes are intended to boost the production and consumption of renewable energy, helping the country meet its national target of at least 34.48% renewable energy share in total final energy consumption by 2030, as outlined in the bill's rationale.

The bill was supported by 145 MPs of GERB-UDF, Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB), Movement for Rights and Freedoms – New Beginning, Bulgarian Socialist Party - United Left and six MPs of the Democracy, Rights and Freedoms (DRF) - MRF and TISP. Opposition came from Vazrazhdane, Morality, Unity, Honor (MECh), and Velichie.

Five MPs of DRF - MRF and one of CC-DB abstained.
