Tokyo, August 7 (BTA) - Bulgaria's Mirela Demireva finished 12th in the high jump final on Saturday. She couldn't hold back her tears after dropping so early from the Tokyo Games.
Demireva jumped 1.93 m, falling short of her personal season's best of 1.95 m in the qualifiers on Thursday.
"I very much hoped to do better. [...] There are things I have to work on. I have no intention to give up. My coach is with me. I feel I have a potential. I love jumping despite all hardships," Demireva said.
She is determined to make a stronger performance at the next Olympic Games in Paris three years from now. LN/
